Larry M Frolich, PhD, is a Professor of Natural Sciences and the Betty Ferguson Endowed Teaching Chair at Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus, where he teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology and Evolution Biology. A dedicated advocate for place- and project-based learning, Dr. Frolich creates interdisciplinary bridges between the biological sciences, geography and human physio-ecology. He is currently completing an academic residency as a 2026 Fulbright U.S. Scholar at Universidad Privada Boliviana in La Paz, Bolivia, focusing on high-altitude human habitation and physiological adaptation. As the project lead for The Vertical Atlas, he combines his expertise in evolutionary biology with crowdsourced digital cartography to map global mountain migration, altitudinal zonation, and biocultural landscapes. Beyond his field research in the Andes, Dr. Frolich authors the widely used educational platform Big Picture Anatomy and engages in transdisciplinary initiatives bridging STEM education, community well-being, and sustainable agriculture across the Americas.
